Sisters in Crime-Canada West invites siblings to join us Saturday June 10th at 10am PST when we discuss Social Media with the Sinc-Cw Communications Team. Winona Kent and Angela Douglas will speak briefly about the different social media channels and the basics of each, followed by Q&A and a membership social.  Bring your questions and ideas for this marketing meeting of the minds.

Bios:

Winona Kent

Winona Kent is an award-winning author who was born in London, England and grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she completed her BA in English at the University of Regina. After moving to Vancouver, she graduated from UBC with an MFA in Creative Writing. More recently, she received her diploma in Writing for Screen and TV from Vancouver Film School.

Winona’s debut novel Skywatcher was a finalist in the Seal Books First Novel Award and was published by Bantam Books in 1989. Since then, she has written nine more books, including her indie-published Jason Davey Mysteries—four novels featuring professional musician / amateur sleuth Jason Davey Figgis. The most recent book in the series, Ticket to Ride, was released in March 2022. Her fifth Jason Davey mystery, Bad Boy, will be released in 2023.

Winona has been a temporary secretary, a travel agent , a screenwriter and the Managing Editor of a literary magazine. She’s currently the national Vice-Chair and the regional BC/YT rep for the Crime Writers of Canada, and is also an active member of Sisters in Crime – Canada West. After many decades working in jobs completely unrelated to writing, Winona recently retired, and is now happily embracing life as a full-time author. She lives in New Westminster, BC.

Angela Douglas

Angela Douglas is a Canadian author who lives in the Okanagan with her husband and kids. Her debut novel and psychological thriller, EVERY FALL, is being published by Rising Action Publishing Collective in January 2025. She is a member of International Thriller Writers, Crime Writers of Canada, the Federation of BC Writers and is the VP of Communications of Sisters in Crime – Canada West. When she isn’t working or chasing her two children, she hides in her studio with her bulldog Frankie, writing her next book.

Her day job is in marketing communications. She has been doing this for over a decade, marketing and writing for various industries, including insurance, travel, finance, mortgage, real estate, writing organizations and more.
